Can forensic drug intelligence really make a difference?
Following an introduction considering the work of the Australian Federal Police ( AFP ) in drug law enforcement and the role of the AFP's forensic group, this presentation will focus on forensic drug intelligence. This will include a brief history of how the concept has been developed in the AFP since the early 1990's to its current status and how it contributes to law enforcement at a national and international level. The program has a number of elements which together aim to address areas of interest to not only law enforcement but to other stakeholders in policy and health fields. The presentation will look at what can and what cannot be done and how it is hoped to address some of the "cannot be done" elements for the future to ensure forensic drug intelligence does make a difference.
